Need
Calzedonia Group has completed the construction of a new production unit in the textile factory “Benji”, in SriLanka, considerably increasing the workers employed. So it got necessary to dismiss existing WWTP realizing a totally new one, to process domestic and kitchen’s waste water. The Client, as usual aiming to maximum sustainability, requires to reuse as much water as possible for toilet facilities, irrigation and fire prevention.
Solution
Due to water reuse requirement, and to reduce excess sludge production as well, we decide to go with MBR (Membrane Bio Reactor) ultrafiltration coupled with a biological treatment equipped with advanced nitrogen removal: treated water has such a good quality that can be directly reused, without further treatments, for toilets and irrigation. The plant has been running since may 2026, and is equipped with web telemetry for local/remote control and management.
